THE JEFFERSONS’ STAR PASSES AWAY AT 74




Sherman Hemsley, the star of the popular ’80s sitcom ‘The Jeffersons’ has passed away at 74. Reports say Hemsley died in his El Paso, Texas, home of natural causes.
The news was later confirmed by the El Paso Police Department which released a statement yesterday.
The El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons (CAP) unit responded to an eastside residence Tuesday morning regarding a death unattendedThe preliminary investigation revealed that Sherman Hemsley was found at the residence without signs of life.  The exact cause of death is pending autopsy results. No foul play is suspected. Notification of next of kin was made by CAP detectives late Tuesday evening’, the statement read.
Hemsley is most famous for his role as George Jefferson on the CBS television series All in the Family and The Jeffersons, and as Deacon Ernest Frye on the NBC series Amen.
His last TV appearance was a reprised role of his George Jefferson character in the Tyler Perry sitcom ‘House of Payne
He reportedly had no spouse or children.
