US computer programmer, Internet entrepreneur and Facebook founder and C.E.OMark Zuckerberg has had an interesting week celebrating his birthday, seeing his company’s IPO, and getting married!
According to the Associated Press, the 28-year-old and his long-time bride Priscilla Chan tied on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at a small ceremony at Zuckerberg’s house in Palo Alto, Calif.
The ceremony took place at his backyard before fewer than 100 guests including Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer – Sheryl Sanberg. The guests were said to have been coming to celebrate Chan’s graduation but were surprised to find out the couple would be tying the knot. ‘Everybody was shocked’, a guest said, according to AP.
Chan, 27, has been busy this week too – she graduated from medical school at theUniversity of California, San Francisco on Monday. The couple met at Harvard and have been together for more than nine years.
‘Congratulations to you both. The world is always a better place when you get to share the trip with someone you love! ‘, a comment on the Mark and Priscilla’s picture posted on his wall reads.
Zuckerberg remains Facebook’s single largest shareholder, with $503.6m worth of shares and 56 per cent control of its voting stock.
The famous website which was birthed in a dorm room eight years ago has grown into the biggest social networking platform with almost a billion users.
And oh yea, Zukerberg’s relationship status on Facebook has been changed to ‘married’ too.
