The announcement was made at a press briefing held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the Protea hotel, Ikeja in Lagos.
Speaking about the show, Rotimi Pedro of Optima Media Group (same company that produces Nigerian Idol) said preparations have been going on since the popular franchise was acquired over a year ago. He added that the essence of the show is to bring back the culture of nurturing good talent, and since Nigerians are talented in several areas beyond music and movies, there is a need for a platform to encourage them.

According to her, the strictly-for-Nigerians show will air 18 episodes and reward the winner with a sum of N10 million.  The show’s judges and hosts will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, the C.O.O of Airtel, Deepak Srivastava, added that the show has been packaged to give Nigerians an opportunity to behold the abundance of talent in the country and to provide a form of relaxation for their customers. He also said the company will support the show for the next three years.
