RAPPER COOLIO ARRESTED, SHARES JAIL WITH SON

Gangsta’s paradise’ rapper, Coolio recently shared the same jail facility as his son, after police in Las Vegas arrested him on an outstanding warrant charging him with failure to appear in court over a traffic violation ticket received almost two years ago.
Law enforcement officials confirm that Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was a passenger in a Nissan Versa vehicle which was pulled over for a routine traffic violation early Friday March 9, 2012.
Cops ran his name in the system and noticed he had two active bench warrants out for his arrest stemming from multiple traffic violations.
Coolio was subsequently arrested and taken to Clark County Detention Center — the same place where his son Grtis Ivey, 22, is currently serving time for an armed robbery conviction.
The rapper has since been released after posting bail of $5,850, but a court date has not yet been fixed for hearing of the case.
In November 1997, Coolio was arrested for robbing a boutique in Böblingen, Germany together with his support crew ‘40 Thieves’. He was sentenced to six months’ probation and fined. During March 2009 he was detained at Los Angeles airport for possession of crack cocaine.
Coolio is best remembered for his 1995 song ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ which received several awards, including Best Rap Solo Performance at the Grammy Awards; and Best Rap Video and Best Video from a Film at the MTV Video Music Awards.
