A recent statement by Synagogue Church of all Nations founder, Prophet TB Joshua, predicting the death of a male Nollywood player has put the Nigerian movie industry into panic.
The controversial evangelist, whose earlier predictions of the death of an African leader seemed to come to pass with the death of Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika on April 6, 2012, reportedly told his congregation during an Easter service to ‘pray against the death of a male member of the industry’.
The prediction came just a few days after Tanzanian actor, Steven Kanumba, passed away on April 6, after an altercation with an aspiring movie actress Elizabeth
‘I think it’s worth praying against, no matter what opinion anyone has about T B Joshua. We don’t want another death to hit the industry at this time we are making great progress internationally and it would be a real disaster if it turns out to be one of the young ones who are our major faces now‘, disclosed a top industry source who is also a movie director.
Recent deaths of Nollywood big names like Ashley Nwosu, Sam Loco Efe, Geraldine Ekeocha among others have generated concerns among stakeholders, prompting prayers by the different guilds of the industry at different times to forestall future re-occurrences.
